IC
1396 in Cepheus
- Taken with the Vixen 130ED refractor at prime
focus (860mm f/6.6). 90 minute exposure on Kodak E200, pushed two
stops. Mounted on the Celestron CGE with ST-4 guiding, poor guiding
this time around. Another pretty but faint nebula in Cepheus.

NGC
7023 (Iris Nebula)
- Taken with the Vixen 130ED refractor at prime
focus (860mm f/6.6). 90 minute exposure on Kodak E200, pushed two
stops. Mounted on the Vixen Atlux with ST-4 guiding (A1's, and unknown
field rotation on one side, sigh). This is a beautiful reflection
nebula in Cepheus.. check out the span of dark nebulosity around it.
I want to retake this on Fuji film for some bolder blue pickup. This
is one of my favorite nebulas.

the star drift?!?).

The
Horsehead Nebula!
- Taken with the Orion 8" f/4.9 reflector
at prime focus; 1 hour exposure on Kodak E200; pushed 2 stops...Mounted
on the Vixen Atlux. I'm still working out the calibration on the mount
and autoguider, as the large image will reveal some drift (blast!).

- Taken with the Orion 8" f/4.9 relfector
at prime focus; 25 min exposure on Kodak E200; pushed 2 stops...Mounted
on the Vixen Atlux. This is one of the first autoguided shots with
the ST-4, after making a custom cable to adapt it from the SkySensor
2000. (Full Size Image

M42
(Orion Nebula)
- Taken with the 4.5" f/5.3 Vixen 114 ED
Refractor on the Atlux mount; 10 min exposure on Kodak E200; pushed
2 stops... I used the scope's cap as the closing shutter since the
30+ year old Minolta camera started displaying old age. Note the blue
in the "Running Man" Nebula just to the apparent right of
Orion. (Large Image)

This is about the kind of detial you would see through
an eyepiece through any telescope 80mm and bigger. 3 stacked images taken
through Celestron 11' SCT and Minolta 3.5mp digital camera. approx 250x
